Medecision is looking for a Database Administrator, a passionate power contributor who blends solid 24X7 enterprise-class database and applications operations management, broad big data curiosity, with proven service delivery and service level agreement optimization for managed environment experience.   

 

The ideal candidate:

 

Sees the Big Picture –Conceiving and communicating our big data strategy and vision, while also keeping a careful eye on the details, costs and executing for success.

 

Health Care Lingo– Takes a "consultants" approach to rapidly mastering the unique concepts, confidentiality, and data flows and processes built for our Aerial family of SaaS products.

 

Rolls Up his/her Sleeves – A “do-what-it-takes” engineer and “doer” who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

 

Is Cloud-Inspired – A technologist who embraces and self-studies the emerging tools that drive IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. Well versed in emerging trends in big data, analytics, containers, auto-scaling, automation, and orchestration.

 

Has a Passion for Excellence – Someone who jumps out of bed in the morning (or at 2am during a critical incident) brimming with ideas for IT solutions that help the company put our clients first.

 

 

THIS JOB MIGHT BE FOR YOU, IF…

 

You love big data and the applications that wrap around them in all it's forms from relational, to no SQL, to data lakes. The primary objective of our Database Administrator (DBA) is to develop and maintain the corporate Oracle databases ensuring data integrity, security, retention, and recoverability of the data. In this role, the DBA will design, build, test, and deploy quality database solutions that are consistent with project objectives, technology architecture standards and departmental best. The DBA will create and administer all database objects from design to deployment utilizing subject matter expertise to design or re-use, configure, and implement database solutions/processes that maximize system availability, efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, recoverability, and supportability.

 

The application stack, not supported by our IT Outsourced partner's Rackspace and Object Rocket, requires steady support for data intake, customer onboarding, and general capacity management. Document workflows and maintain evidence  for HITRUST certification.  Primary support for SaaS client requests for frequent and timely data copy processes. Script maintenance and batch job processing is a critical element of data import management. Addiitonally, our product innovations add significant new workflows and will require multiple generations of operationalization to simplify care and feeding.

Responsibilities

YOU’RE GOOD AT:

  • Overseeing and managing your database technology stack.
  • Understanding and managing incident management while delivering high levels of customer service that aligns to our Internal and Customer service levels.
  • Prioritizing in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Ensuring processes meet business requirements and system goals.
  • Ensuring new and/or enhanced processes are integrated with standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborating with development and product by understanding the business requirements, ultimately contribute to our overall data road-map.

Qualifications

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or engineering
  • 5+ years experience in database management
  • Health Care IT experience is a plus.
  • Hand-on experience in database administration with Oracle including capacity planning, load balancing, performance tuning, high availability and multi-sites Disaster Recovery deployment on complex database environments; Oracle 11G/12C and RAC implementation experience is desired.  NoSQL experience such as with MongoDB is desired.  Hadoop experience is ideal.
  • Experience in database schema design including logical and physical database schemas design for large scale, highly available and mission critical application systems.
  • Experience designing and supporting the database components of software applications, and understanding of entire application development life cycle.
  • Experience with complex SQL and PL/SQL programming and optimization.
  • Proficiency with Linux, shell scripting and crons are desired.
  • Experience with Java, Python, NodeJS is a plus.
  • Experience in private cloud and public cloud is desireable. 
  • Good writing skills to provide documentation for DBA and other teams.
