You, as the Systems Engineer-Windows, are a strong, highly visible systems engineer responsible for ensuring world class engineering support for IT Operations for the company. This includes services supporting servers, virtualization, disaster recovery, and mastery of our application framework. You are fully capable of delivering to the company strategy while meeting the ever-changing technology and service needs of the company.

 

You will provide senior support for all operational team(s) and work efforts of business groups to enforce a culture of excellence based on leading by example, driving continuous improvement, performing root cause analysis for problem elimination, and doing all work right the first time. You will have a relentless focus on customer service, innovation, transparency and creating an extraordinary end user experience while remaining consultative and relationship-oriented with all departments in the organization.

Responsibilities

YOU’RE GOOD AT:

  • Participating in an efficient and cost-effective IT department with a focus on a stable and advanced IT environment.
  • Working closely with both insourced and outsourced teams as well as other leaders engaged in comprehensive management of IT Operations to ensure strategic initiatives are being met.
  • Identity and access management, security, and single sign on technologies
  • Prioritizing in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Ensuring processes meet business requirements and system goals.
  • Ensuring new or enhanced processes are integrated with standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborating and understanding the business requirements, ultimately define our overall Information Technology road-map.
  • Determining technology development strategies for the company as a whole and for individual projects; working with top-level management and technology heads to organize these projects.

  • Compute and Storage Capacity Management

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Server Production Support and Management
  • Configure and maintain Windows operating system, front-end and back-end server components, and production application services according to defined requirements and data center operations standards
  • Configure and maintain Windows VM templates
  • Installing code releases and software packages on servers
  • Participates in the implementation of monitoring systems for event monitoring, alerting, and metrics.
  • Responsible for gathering relevant data to determine system capacity needs and make plans for capacity expansions in a proactive manner.
  • Responsible for development and configuration practices that ensure a high level of performance and optimize capacity utilization.
  • Provides requirements to the Systems Monitoring group for metrics, alerts and escalations.
  • Serves as a point of escalation for performance problems that cannot be resolved by the Support Staff.
  • Researches new methods for enhancing performance and shares findings with the Engineering team and the Engineering Leadership committee.
  • Participates in the BCP Strategy of the IT Infrastructure.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency support and maintenance of a 24x7 Production Environment.
  • Tier 3 support for IT Corporate Services

Qualifications

YOU HAVE: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Windows System Engineering with demonstrated ability to guide technology decisions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, excellent organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize multiple activities and objectives to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to write effective technical documentation with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience administering Active Directory domains.
  • Experience with ADFS
  • Experience with ITIL standards and change management

Desired skills:

  • Experience managing DNS (Internal and External) including MX and SPF records
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python) and provisioning tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef or others
  • Develops detailed project plans for projects and drive to completion
  • Experience in setup and configuration of Monitoring tools
  • Experience in Utilization and capacity management
  • Experience with Linux a plus
  • Experience with SDLC a plus
  • Experience with Database technologies (MS-SQL, Oracle, etc) a plus
